The RAISE Project
The RAISE – Robotics and AI for Socio-economic Empowerment project is one of the 11 Innovation Ecosystems funded by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU programme.
PNRR MUR – M4C2 – Investment 1.5 – “Innovation Ecosystems” call.
RAISE promotes the development of advanced technologies based on robotics and artificial intelligence, with particular attention to ecorobotics applications: an approach that combines ecology and engineering, where robotic systems become operational tools for monitoring, protecting and sustainably managing territories and infrastructures.
The project fosters collaboration between universities, research centres and companies to develop technological solutions capable of improving infrastructure safety, natural risk management and environmental monitoring.
The role of Info Solution
Within Spoke 3, dedicated to technologies for environmental and infrastructure protection, Info Solution contributes to the development of autonomous robotics systems through four technological products:
Product 2.1 – Autonomous robot for monitoring critical infrastructures
Product 3.3 – Autonomous robot for building inspection in pre- and post-earthquake scenarios
Product 5.4 – Autonomous robot for precision agriculture applications in vineyards
Product 5.9 – MOLIRIS autonomous navigation kit for mobile robots
Product 2.1 – Robotic monitoring of critical infrastructures
The project focuses on the development of autonomous robotic systems for the monitoring and patrolling of complex industrial infrastructures, such as refineries and large energy facilities.
The objective is to create an integrated platform combining different monitoring technologies:
- fixed environmental sensors installed within the infrastructure
- aerial drones developed by the University of Genoa for overhead inspections
- autonomous ground robots developed by Info Solution for patrolling and real-time data collection
Experimental activities have been carried out at the IPLOM refinery, a highly complex industrial environment where reliability, safety and operational autonomy are essential requirements.

Info Solution’s role: autonomous navigation for complex industrial environments
Within Product 2.1, Info Solution developed an autonomous rover based on the MOLIRIS navigation platform, designed to operate in large-scale industrial infrastructures characterised by high operational complexity.
The system enables the robot to move autonomously within industrial facilities, performing patrolling and environmental monitoring tasks.
🔹 GPS-free autonomous navigation
The robot uses LiDAR sensors and advanced localisation and mapping algorithms to move autonomously even in industrial environments where GPS signals are unavailable or unreliable.
🔹 Navigation across large industrial sites
The system has been optimised to operate in large-scale industrial facilities, ensuring stable localisation and dynamic path planning even in the presence of obstacles or changing environmental conditions.
🔹 Integration with environmental sensors
The rover can carry sensors for gas detection and environmental monitoring, supporting the collection of valuable data for industrial safety.

The technologies developed in this project are part of the MOLIRIS robotic platform, the system of autonomous mobile robots developed by Info Solution for monitoring critical infrastructures, industrial facilities and complex environments.
The functionalities developed within Product 2.1 have been integrated into the MOLIRIS autonomous navigation kit (Product 5.9), a modular solution designed to be installed on different autonomous mobile robots and adapted to various operational scenarios, including critical infrastructure monitoring, post-earthquake inspections and precision agriculture.
Applications of the MOLIRIS Platform within the RAISE Project
The technologies developed within the RAISE project have been applied to several operational scenarios through the MOLIRIS robotic platform, the autonomous navigation system developed by Info Solution for mobile robots operating in complex environments.
