MOLIRIS – Autonomous Mobile Robots and Navigation Kit
AN AUTONOMOUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR MOBILE ROBOTS
DESIGNED TO OPERATE IN CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE,
POST-EARTHQUAKE SCENARIOS AND PRECISION AGRICULTURE

MOLIRIS is an autonomous mobile robot platform developed by Info Solution to operate in complex environments, even without GPS coverage. The system uses LiDAR sensors and advanced localisation and navigation algorithms to enable robots to move autonomously, avoid obstacles and perform monitoring and inspection missions.
Within the framework of the RAISE – Robotics and AI for Socio-economic Empowerment project, Info Solution has further evolved this technology by developing Product 5.9, a modular autonomous navigation kit designed to be integrated into different robotic platforms.
The kit represents the technological core of the MOLIRIS platform and enables the navigation system to be adapted to different operational scenarios.
The RAISE Project
The RAISE – Robotics and AI for Socio-economic Empowerment project is one of the 11 Innovation Ecosystems funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU under the Italian PNRR programme.
PNRR MUR – M4C2 – Investment 1.5 – “Innovation Ecosystems” call.
The project aims to develop an innovation ecosystem based on robotics and artificial intelligence, with particular attention to ecorobotics: an approach that combines ecology and engineering, where robotic systems become operational tools for monitoring, protecting and sustainably managing the environment.
In this context, robotics is not only used to observe and collect data, but also to actively support the management of territory and infrastructure, contributing to the safety, resilience and sustainability of natural and industrial systems.
The RAISE project promotes collaboration between universities, research centres and companies to accelerate the development of advanced technologies and foster technology transfer towards industrial applications.
Within the RAISE ecosystem, Info Solution contributes to the development of autonomous robotics technologies applied to environmental monitoring, infrastructure safety and sustainable territory management.
Info Solution’s Role
Info Solution participates in the RAISE project through the development of four technological products:

🔹 Product 5.4 – Autonomous robot for precision agriculture applications in vineyards

Product 5.9 represents the technological platform that integrates and unifies into a single autonomous navigation kit the functionalities developed for the three RAISE application scenarios: monitoring of critical infrastructure, inspection of buildings in post-earthquake environments, and precision agriculture in vineyards.

One Navigation System for Multiple Applications
The MOLIRIS autonomous navigation kit developed by Info Solution integrates advanced technologies to provide a robot navigation system for autonomous mobile robots operating in complex and dynamic environments.
The system is designed to be installed on autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and enables effective operation even in GNSS/GPS-denied environments.
Key Technologies
✅ GPS-free navigation
The system uses multiple LiDAR sensors and advanced SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) algorithms to create environmental maps and localise the robot in real time.
✅ Adaptive autonomous driving
Advanced sensor data processing enables the robot to recognise obstacles, debris, vineyard rows and narrow passages, adapting its navigation behaviour to the operational scenario.
✅ Compatibility with different robotic platforms
The kit is designed as a plug-and-play solution, allowing easy integration with different mobile robots and sensors from multiple manufacturers.
✅ Assisted driving and teleoperation
The system includes tele-guidance and remote control modes, allowing operators to intervene in particularly complex situations.
One Platform for Three Operational Scenarios
The navigation system developed in Product 5.9 has been designed to support three main application domains.
🔹 Critical infrastructure monitoring
Autonomous robots for patrolling industrial facilities, refineries and energy infrastructure, with the possibility of integrating sensors for detecting hazardous gases and other anomalies.
🔹 Inspection of buildings in post-earthquake scenarios
Mobile robots capable of navigating inside damaged buildings or areas partially obstructed by debris, supporting structural inspection and damage assessment activities.
🔹 Precision agriculture in vineyards
Autonomous robots able to navigate along vineyard rows without predefined maps, supporting automated agricultural operations such as crop monitoring and pruning.

The technologies developed within the RAISE project have been applied to several operational scenarios through the MOLIRIS robotic platform, the autonomous navigation system developed by Info Solution for mobile robots operating in complex environments.

Towards a New Generation of Autonomous Robots
The MOLIRIS autonomous navigation kit represents a step towards the standardisation of autonomous navigation technologies for mobile robots, contributing to the development of new ecorobotics solutions where autonomous robots support the monitoring and sustainable management of territory, infrastructure and the environment.
This platform provides the technological basis for developing new applications in territory monitoring, infrastructure safety and agricultural automation.
The MOLIRIS robotic platform is designed to be integrated with sensors and systems developed by technology partners and companies specialised in environmental and industrial monitoring. The system is therefore open to collaboration with companies and research centres interested in developing new autonomous robotics applications for infrastructure monitoring, territory management and precision agriculture.
